A-Frame Family Lodge

A friend and builder came to us for help designing a ski home near Mount Snow in Vermont. He wanted to build a classic A-Frame style structure but scale it up to provide sleeping for 15 and the potential to utilize it as a short-term rental. The sloping site was perfect for a walk-out basement, providing daylight and access to the expansive lower level where there is a bunkroom, kitchen/bar area, entertainment spaces, and owner’s lockout storage. The main floor, with laundry, two bedrooms, powder room, and full bath, is accessed through a mudroom addition off of the "A" that leads into a double-height great room with “sky to slope views.” A generous outdoor deck provides additional three-season space for grilling, sunset beverages, and hanging out by the fire. The top floor has the primary bedroom with an en suite bathroom and has a balcony perfect for reading a good book with a hot cup of cocoa. As a bonus, guests can climb even higher up to the rope nest and experience that treehouse feeling. Great communication and a client who really understood the importance of creating memories made this project a big success and a joy to be a part of.
