This single-family home nestled into a sloped site in western Massachusetts was designed with modern living in mind. The modern form and layout is a reflection of the owner’s tastes, specific requirements about utility and adjacencies, and needs to accommodate plans for a growing family. We worked extensively with them to bring to life intimate “vignettes” within the open plan spaces, such as a built-in bench integrated with the fireplace and a lovely widow seat near the library, all while opening views to the surrounding landscape beyond.

The house was designed with modern living in mind, providing flex space that could be used as offices or any function as needed. An open plan for the kitchen, dining, and living area provides opportunities for easy transitions for highly used spaces and a space that can hold a lot of community at once. Along with being nestled into the sloped site, this home has been designed to be ready for PV (solar electric) in the future to provide renewable energy to the property.
