Natatorium and Pond House

Designed for a couple that have a very active lifestyle, Natatorium and Pond House facilitate their love of swimming and hosting gatherings. The natatorium features large sliding walls with motorized insect screens, a steam room, sauna, three-quarter bath, and changing room. The pool deck extends to the landscape where a fire pit, outdoor dining, and an outdoor kitchen are planned. The pond house sits right at the edge of a freshwater pond and features a convertible living/bedroom and bathroom, as well as a small kitchen for snacks on the dock.

Natatorium and Pond House

The owner came to us to design an indoor lap pool, sauna, steam room, pond house, and outdoor living space that would integrate with their newly renovated home. We designed a seamless connection to the house without obstructing views and facilitating large summer gatherings of friends and family. The steel-framed natatorium features a 16 x 42 foot lap pool and skylight. It also features expansive daylighting via the three 24-foot wide and one 36-foot wide sliding doors that open up to the surrounding landscape. The patio will serve as an outdoor kitchen and lounging area, while the pond house provides overflow lodging and a place to hang out by the dock on the swimming pond. Clad in durable and beautiful cedar and stone, these elements integrate visually with the existing house.
