In downtown Springfield, Massachusetts, we collaborated with White Lion Brewing Company to create a vibrant space for their brewery and tap room. Working closely with the owner and his team, we transformed a former, gutted restaurant into a community hangout, a place to gather and meet up with friends to enjoy good music, great food, and most importantly, great beer.

When Ray Berry approached us about opening his flagship brewery in a high-rise building in downtown Springfield, we jumped at the chance. The challenges were many, but the most notable was that the ideal location for the brewhouse and tank farm was over the building’s mechanical room one floor below. The existing concrete deck would not support these loads, and we could not support them from below. So, with the help of a skilled structural engineer, we designed a steel structure that could support the tanks as it hung from the building's columns. This brew deck has all the proper sanitary drains and was designed with the processes of beer making and material handling in mind. The tap room features a long concrete bar, expansive views to the brewery, large overhead doors that open to the streetscape, a private meeting room, and an area for live entertainment.
