About ADCi
We are a firm on a mission to bring our client’s visions to vibrant life, to create space and place that both reflects and drives our clients’ sense of purpose.
In 2022, our team came together to form a worker-owned cooperative and bought the business from our founder Bill Austin. We are grateful to Bill for his many years of leadership and friendship, and we are excited to carry the firm into its next chapter together.

Tom Chalmers
Architect
As a registered architect at ADCoop, Tom brings over 35 years of experience in all aspects of the design and construction of multi-family affordable housing and public sector projects to the firm. His work includes sustainable and energy‐efficient design, renovations to town halls, libraries, and inner city public schools, including envelope repairs, elevators, and accessibility alterations. When not at the computer or in the field, he is out on the green grass of his farm moving cattle and pigs.

Architect
Patrick is a registered architect that loves his job. He brings with him his construction experience, biology background, and creativity to create thoughtful structures that support people where they are. He tends toward a modern aesthetic and prefers to use simple materials to achieve beautiful, well-crafted designs that are not fancy or overdone. He likes a splash of oat creamer in his coffee and has a hard time saying “no” to chocolate.

Designer/Project Manager
Peter combines a background in environmental science and customer relations with 15 years of experience in design and construction. He approaches placemaking as an opportunity to foster social interactions using layered spaces, natural materials, and craftsmanship. His work expresses clean lines, a functional sensibility, and a strong connection to the site. When it’s time for recharging, Sunday driving, playing in the snow, and relaxing in the river are top of the list.

Designer/Project Manager
As designer and project manager, Bryan (M. Arch) has been working at ADCoop for 16 years and has over 20 years of experience in residential, commercial, and industrial design. He prides himself on the relationships he has built and the trust that comes along with being consistently on time and on budget while providing innovative and unique design solutions. In his spare time, you might find him working on his campervan or rock climbing.

Designer/Project Manager
With over 25 years of experience in architectural design and building, Raph (M. Arch) brings a deep commitment to site-responsive solutions that harmonize timeless building traditions with contemporary technologies.

Design Drafter
Designer and drafter at Austin Design Cooperative, where he has worked since 2016, Steven is certified as a Passive House Consultant. He specializes in Vectorworks 3D modeling, construction drawing sets, and sustainable design solutions.

Design Drafter
Brandon brings over 30 years of experience working on a variety of architectural projects, including residential, educational, performing arts, and municipal buildings. When not exploring the woods on foot or cross country skis, Brandon can be found maintaining and/or renovating his home, a 1930 craftsman bungalow.

General Manager
Chamois oversees daily operations as our General Manager. When she’s not spreadsheeting, her free time is spent reading and enjoying the outdoors.

Founder
Bill founded Austin Design in 1993 and led the company for nearly 30 years. His collaborative approach to projects and running the business helped lay the groundwork for the employees to eventually form a worker cooperative and buy the business upon his retirement in 2022.
